VTA Light Rail Now Offering Real-Time Tracking and Mobile Apps

SAN JOSE, Calif. and DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Real-time technology is elevating the public transit experience in Santa Clara Valley for almost 11 million light rail riders through a partnership between TransLoc, SinglePoint Communications and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.

The addition of real-time transit information through TransLoc allows riders to know the location and arrival time of their train at any point along the route. This puts riders in control of their schedule by minimizing wait time and helping them avoid missing trains. The information can be accessed in real time from a web browser or smartphone using TransLoc's top-rated mobile apps.

In addition to knowing exactly where their train is, riders can now receive alerts when their train is arriving and easily plan around personal schedule changes or non-routine trips. The partnership was made possible through VTA's long-term relationship with SinglePoint Communications, which provides high-speed Wi-Fi to VTA light rail, and their existing commitment to their passengers.
