Walden University Faculty Present at American Counseling Association Conference & Expo

MINNEAPOLIS, March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Eleven faculty members from Walden University's School of Counseling will present their research and best practices at the American Counseling Association's (ACA) 2014 Conference & Expo March 27–30 in Honolulu. The annual event brings together professional counselors from various practice settings for networking and career development.

Walden faculty member Dr. Brande Flamez will be honored at this year's conference for her work in the counseling profession. Dr. Flamez, LPC, NCC, a faculty member in the CACREP-accredited Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program, will receive the Kitty Cole Human Rights Award, which honors an ACA member who has made significant contributions in one or more areas of the broad spectrum of human rights.

"The ACA conference is an opportunity for counseling professionals to gather and discuss the key needs of counselors today and how to address them," said Dr. Savitri Dixon-Saxon, associate dean of the School of Counseling. Dr. Jason King, faculty member in the CACREP-accredited M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program, also will be honored as the distinguished invited speaker on the CSI Leadership Panel by Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society of professional counseling.
