Samsung last week announced the winners from Round 1, including Wallaby. The Challenge, launched in May 2014, recognizes developers that are creating apps optimized for Samsung wearable devices. More than 900 entries were received from 69 countries, spanning a wide range of ideas. The winners were selected based on the uniqueness of app, overall usability, and the developer's understanding of Gear features by a panel of judges.
Wallaby, along with other finalists, will proceed to the second round of the Challenge, where winners compete for more than $850,000 in prizes. The overall winner of the challenge will receive $100,000, and the top 10 entries will go through a public vote for the Popular Choice Prize at http://gearappfinal.challengepost.com/. The final top 10 winning entries will be announced at the 2014 Samsung Developers Conference in San Francisco, November 11-13, and will be invited to exhibit and demonstrate their app at the conference.
