Ward Promoted to Director of Sales at Phoenix/Happy Valley Cluster
MERRILLVILLE, Ind., Dec. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Martina Ward, a White Lodging employee for the past four years was recently promoted to the Director of Sales position at the Courtyard by Marriott and the Residence Inn by Marriott in Happy Valley, Arizona. Most recently, Ward was the Senior Cluster Sales Manager at the same suburban Phoenix hotel cluster.
"Martina has done an outstanding job while in her previous positions at this cluster, and we're expecting an equally strong showing as she takes over as Director of Sales," said Charles Elam, General Manager of the properties. Elam elaborated by noting Ward's achievements during her two-and-one-half years as the Senior Cluster Sales Manager. In 2009 she received Marriott's Global Leadership Award for Market Share Improvement for all Select Service Franchise Partners, and in 2010 she went on to win Marriott's Global Leadership Award for Extended Stay Sales Team of the Year, Marriott's Extended Stay Occupancy Improvement Award and White Lodging's Highest Extended Stay Occupancy Award.
Before joining the sales team at the Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott in Happy Valley, Ward was the Dual Assistant General Manager for the properties. When she started in this position in 2007, she helped manage the team that opened the hotels.
A graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ward got her start in the industry while still in school. Her first job was with Marriott International as a Guest Care Manager for the Residence Inn by Marriott in Flagstaff. After graduating she continued with Marriott International and was posted in Torrance, California as a Market Sales Account Executive.
