"Akridge's employees are our greatest asset, " said company president Matthew J. Klein. "They are the distinctive feature that makes this a great place to work, so this recognition is both from them and for them. "
In selecting Washington's Best Places to Work, the Business Journal screened more than 300 entrants, comparing company benefits, policies, and structure, as well as retaining Quantum Market Research to survey the employees at each firm. Companies were evaluated on such criteria as team effectiveness, retention, employee alignment with company goals, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, work engagement, and people practices.
Each of the 50 finalists in attendance at today's ceremony was asked to offer one word that makes their company a great place to work. The Akridge team chose "achievers" to describe its workforce. "We're also humble," quipped Mr. Klein.
