Washington Performing Arts Society Names Booz Allen's Reggie Van Lee Chairman of Board of Directors
Chairmanship of Washington Performing Arts Society Follows Appointment to President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities
MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Booz Allen Hamilton Executive Vice President Reggie Van Lee has been named chairman of the board of directors by the Washington Performing Arts Society, the firm announced today.
The Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS) is a non-profit multidisciplinary arts organization offering one of the city's widest-ranging performing arts seasons. Featuring both emerging and internationally acclaimed artists, WPAS presents more than 100 public engagements and arts education activities every year and was founded in 1965.
Before being named chairman of WPAS, Van Lee was vice chair of the society's board and has served as a board member since 2007. In November 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Van Lee to serve on the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, following a long association with arts organizations in New York and Washington.
Van Lee leads Booz Allen's public health and not-for-profit businesses. Over a 26-year career, he has helped numerous private and public organizations transform in order to better achieve their missions and assisted in the growth of a diverse range of not-for-profit organizations and foundations.

Van Lee previously led Booz Allen's efforts to assist the Smithsonian Institution with development of a strategic plan, which included an emphasis on the importance of corporate participation in the arts and partnership with the Smithsonian. Booz Allen is currently sponsoring an exhibit of Norman Rockwell images at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Van Lee's recognitions include the Black Engineer of the Year Award, the Joseph Papp Racial Harmony Award from the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, New York University's C. Walter Nichols Award for outstanding community service, and the prestigious Spirit of Cabrini Award from the Cabrini Mission Foundation.
Van Lee serves as chairman emeritus of the board of the Evidence Dance Company, chairman of the board of the New York International Ballet Competition, and treasurer and a trustee of the Studio Museum in Harlem. In addition, he is a member of the MACS AIDS Fund Board, the Executive Leadership Council, the Howard Theatre Restoration Project, and the Habitat for Humanity International Cabinet.
Van Lee holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School as well as M.S. and B.S. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
