SEATTLE, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) announced a new program for injured workers and crime victims needing language services. The program allows healthcare providers to use Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services to access an interpreter within seconds. InDemand Interpreting is one of three authorized providers of VRI services for L&I.
This unique and innovative program gives healthcare providers an additional option to using pre-scheduled onsite interpreting or telephonic services. Washington State Department of Labor and Industries spent $13 million for onsite interpreting services for injured workers during 2013. With VRI, providers can access a remote sign language or spoken language interpreter over video with no advance notice. InDemand Interpreting provides the equipment to access these services.
"This program will help injured workers get healthy and back to work quickly by ensuring quality language access," says Andrew Drake, Chief Operating Officer of InDemand Interpreting. "We believe adopting this service will reduce costs for L&I and make it easier for healthcare providers to access language services."
VRI is an effective, easy to use and affordable technology for delivering language services in healthcare. InDemand Interpreting, based in Seattle and a respected national provider of VRI for close to 500 hospitals and clinics, serves more than 100 facilities in Washington State.
