Waste Management of Ohio Awards Prestigious Top Honor for Volunteerism
Winner volunteered over 800 hours just last year
ZANESVILLE, Ohio, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- She used to wonder if just one person could really make a difference. But thousands of volunteer hours later, she now has a very different perspective. She realizes that in addition to making a difference, she can truly change lives.
Those heartfelt words came from Waste Management of Ohio's 2009 Volunteer of the Year, Samantha Puterbaugh. Samantha was just awarded the prestigious honor from over 2,300 Waste Management employees across Ohio and Michigan. Having volunteered over 800 hours just last year, her list of volunteer achievements is as big as her passion for helping others. Samantha serves as a youth leader and teacher through her church, leads the children's bible study, and also delivers meals for the Salvation Army. If that's not all, in her spare time, she also serves as a board member for the Zanesville Kionia (a non-denominational community outreach organization), serves as assistant coach for the Zanesville Lady Bluedevils (girls softball), and also donates time for the local orchestra boosters.
So what motivates Samantha to volunteer at this tremendous level? With a smile on her face, Samantha replied, "I want to be able to show Christian fellowship and love through my actions." And indeed, she is doing just that.
As part of her Volunteer of the Year award, Samantha was given an engraved glass plate made from 100% recycled bottle glass, and Waste Management will also be contributing $1,000 to Samantha's charity of choice. She has worked for Waste Management since 2007 and currently serves as the Operations Specialist for Coshocton Landfill in Coshocton, Ohio. Married with three children, Samantha and her family reside in Zanesville.
