WCA Waste Corporation Announces Recent Core Market Acquisitions

HOUSTON, April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- WCA Waste Corporation ("WCA"), a vertically integrated, non-hazardous solid-waste services company, announced today it has completed several acquisitions in its core markets and divested of its waste-by-rail business in Ohio and Massachusetts.

Over the prior twelve months, WCA closed nine tuck-in acquisitions. These include the collection operations of Royal Disposal and Caney Creek Disposal in its Houston, Texas market; Manchester Transfer, a construction and demolition transfer station in east Kansas City; three collection companies tucked into its Missouri operations (Lloyds Loads, Fort Scott Sanitation and Behnen Enterprises); C&S Sanitation in Little Rock, Arkansas; and collection and recycling routes from Buzzard Waste and Abitibi, respectively, in the Oklahoma City market.

The Royal Disposal acquisition added 28 residential collection routes, more than 50,000 new customers and approximately 75,000 tons annually to WCA's Houston footprint, all of which are internalized into WCA's Fort Bend Regional Landfill. The Royal routes are largely concentrated in west and north Houston, areas in which WCA already has a strong market position. The acquisition of Manchester Transfer, now known as WCA – Kansas City Transfer, is a construction and demolition transfer station located in east Kansas City.  Regional Vice President Kevin O'Brien noted, "Although we have serviced the Kansas City market for a number of years through our Central Missouri Landfill, we are excited to be able to offer a more convenient disposal alternative for our Kansas City customers and further expand our services in the Kansas City market."

In addition to these recent acquisitions, WCA has continued the process of converting its collection fleet to automated, compressed natural gas ("CNG") trucks. In the first quarter of 2015, WCA has added 35 CNG front-load trucks to its Houston operations and commenced operation of a CNG fueling station at its Houston South facility in West Houston. WCA will also be opening a public CNG station at its hauling operation in Gainesville, Florida during the upcoming second quarter.  CEO Caesar stated, "We continue to strive for opportunities to provide sustainable solutions that support our long-term strategy and will continue to deploy automated CNG trucks as a key component of WCA's business plan."
