SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- We Heart It, a global image-and-video sharing app used by over 40 million young people, announced today the creation of We Heart It Cares, an initiative seeded with a donation by We Heart It of $1,000,000 in cause focused media to be given to selected organizations over the course of 2016. We Heart It credits its members with inspiring the creation of We Heart It Cares.

The We Heart It app is known for its positive community where each member finds acceptance no matter their interest, passion, or means of expressing themselves. To celebrate the positive self-acceptance values shared by its members, We Heart It recently launched the company's first ever 'Love Yourself Week' via a series of videos dedicated to the topic of loving the differences that make each person unique. The week's montage kickoff video is available here.

Tim Crowhurst, CEO of We Heart It states, "Our members are our greatest inspiration. Week after week they tell us about the positive difference We Heart It makes in their lives. It's humbling, and their support for one another inspires us to do more. We created We Heart It Cares to thank and honor this incredible community. Over the course of 2016, We Heart It Cares will pledge $1 million in media to causes close to the hearts of our members."

We Heart It Cares is a company sponsored initiative seeded with $1 million in media credits. We Heart It is inviting proposals from not-for-profit organizations seeking to make a difference in areas that matter to the app's more than 40 million members.
