webAI Frontline Cuts Aircraft Manual Search From 16 Hours to 20 Minutes, Offline, on a Single iPad

On-device AI answers plain-language questions across an organization's own approved technical documentation, with a cited source page for every answer and no internet connection required.

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- webAI, the leader in collaborative intelligence, today launched webAI Frontline, an on-device AI system that cut documentation search during a single aircraft engine change from 16 hours to 20 minutes at a European regional maintenance operation. Answers returned the cited source page in under two seconds. The operation's complete approved manual set for a regional jet fleet, roughly 34,000 pages, ran on a single iPad.

Aviation is not the only place this happens. In manufacturing and medical device servicing, the rule is the same: check the approved document before you touch anything. The document is long, and it is usually somewhere else. Every minute a technician spends looking for it is a minute not spent doing the work.

webAI started with aviation because aviation is the hardest case. Few industries keep manuals as long or as tightly controlled. A system that can find the right page in 34,000 of them will not struggle with a plant's work instructions or a hospital's equipment manuals.

Frontline is designed for environments where cloud AI can be difficult or impossible to deploy. Connectivity may be unreliable or prohibited, and sensitive technical documentation cannot always be sent to external infrastructure. Because Frontline runs locally, approved documentation and queries remain on the device, and workers can use it anywhere the work happens.

Frontline uses a proprietary architecture that cuts its in-memory footprint by a factor of 30, alongside an embedding model developed by webAI for dense technical documents. Together they allow a full manual set to run on standard Apple Silicon hardware while maintaining sub-two-second retrieval without a network connection or specialized equipment.

Unlike metered cloud AI services, Frontline does not charge by the prompt. Workers can ask as many questions as the job requires.

webAI Frontline is available today through co-development engagements, with webAI working directly with customers to build and tune initial document sets using their own approved material. Recommended hardware is an iPad Pro with an M4 or M5 chip and at least 12 GB of RAM.
