Weeklong Summer Session at Princeton Theological Seminary's School of Christian Vocation and Mission Starts Today on 'Theology in Service to the Church'
PRINCETON, N.J., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Princeton Theological Seminary's School of Christian Vocation and Mission, formerly the Center of Continuing Education, kicked off a weeklong summer educational session today on "Theology in Service to the Church" that will run through Friday, August 13. The event also marks the launch of the School of Christian Vocation and Mission's newly restructured curriculum, building on a 70-year-old legacy of providing ongoing educational opportunities to pastors and lay leaders through theologically rich courses and resources for lifelong learning.
"The realities of our changing world present as many challenges as they do opportunities to the church and ministries worldwide," said Charles Kalmbach, director at the School of Christian Vocation and Mission. "Now more than ever, achieving a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and its underlying theology can help us better understand and embrace this change on a global level and, just as importantly, within our own communities."
The "Theology in Service to the Church" program will explore how Christian theology can be translated and applied to address the most pressing issues being faced by pastors, congregations, and the church community-at-large today. There will be three different classes for participants to choose from, including: how congregations can change themselves and reach out to their surrounding community, led by accomplished author Professor Darrell Guder; the intersection of science, theology, and ministry; and an introductory exploration of Reformed theology for lay leaders, led by long-time faculty member Daniel L. Migliore.
