Wellness Natural Pet Food Gets Greener, Reduces Waste and Expands Recycling Programs

TEWKSBURY, Mass., April 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2015, Wellness Natural Pet Food's WellPet manufacturing facility in Mishawaka, Indiana diverted 793 tons of waste from the landfill. This ambitious action is part of a growing sustainability program at the natural pet food manufacturer's Midwest plant.

Additionally, the natural pet food brand has announced the expansion of their partnership with global recycling leader, TerraCycle^®. As part of the free program, pet parents nationally can recycle their Wellness Complete Health, Wellness CORE and Wellness TruFood dry packaging for dogs and cats, either at participating pet food retailers, or by shipping their empty pet food bags directly to TerraCycle in exchange for points that can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts.

At TerraCycle, Wellness packaging is shredded and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make high-quality recycled goods such as park benches and picnic tables.
