WellPoint allows small-group clients to offer a combination of plan designs, with no impact on costs, giving the small-group segment the flexibility they need. The report also finds that as the nation's largest health benefits company, WellPoint is able to negotiate favorable terms with providers in the core 14 states in which it operates, enabling them to offer lower-cost options. This will be important in California and New York, where WellPoint enrolls more than one in five commercial health insurance members.
