The company has already expanded to five locations throughout Southern California in 2018. They will now use their seed round of funding to continue their expansion throughout Orange County, Los Angeles and other areas of California. The company plans on a national expansion later this year.
WeShareMD was quietly incubated in 2018 by its CEO, George Scopetta, JD MAC and Dr. James Chao with the advisory of healthcare expert, Robert Lozuk. Mr. Scopetta and Dr. Chao are West Coast real estate developers who saw an underserved market in flexible medical office spaces. Their medical office real estate was predominately designed for large medical practices, with prohibitively expensive overhead for small and individual medical practitioners. Mr. Scopetta desired to help medical practitioners who desired to become entrepreneurs by creating highly professional medical offices at a low cost, with flexible commitments by the day, week or month.
"I noticed that the opening of shared medical office space lowered the barriers to entry for startup companies. Meanwhile, doctors were not given these same opportunities because medical space has a whole list of regulatory requirements. The company plans to open its Series A round sometime this year.
