WESTMED Is Offering Full Schedule of Free Talks for Women's Health Week -- Mother's Day (May 12) Through May 18, 2013

PURCHASE, N.Y., April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- National Women's Health Week (NWHW) kicks off on Mother's Day, May 12 through May 18, and WESTMED Medical Group is offering women in the region a fun, free and educational series of health programs appealing especially to them. They can register for as many of the talks as they wish.

Dr. Erika Krauss, a WESTMED internist says, "The talks are being given in order to educate women and teenage girls about early detection, prevention and basically taking better care of ourselves. Women, in general, are good about seeking healthcare when they aren't feeling well, but we also want to encourage more well visits."

Programs will be held at all four of WESTMED's large offices: at 210 Westchester Avenue, White Plains; 1 Theall Road, Rye;  171 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle; and Ridge Hill in Yonkers. The presenters will be expert WESTMED specialists and primary care physicians speaking on a variety of topics ranging from how to prevent varicose veins to taking nutritional supplements and secrets to anti-aging.

What can a woman do to improve her health? "She can incorporate simple preventive and positive health behaviors into her everyday life," said Dr. Krauss.  During National Women's Health Week, women are also encouraged to discuss with their healthcare professionals which tests are right for them, when to have them, and how often. Maintaining regular check-ups is one of five health habits that can improve a woman's health. The others include physical activity, a healthy diet, not smoking and following general safety rules.
