What Can a Financial Advisor Do for You? National Financial Advisor Week and Hewins Financial Examine
NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- An aging population, an uncertain investment environment and increasing noise from the financial media mean that investors, more than ever, need professional, objective financial advice. Despite these trends, almost half of pre-retirees and more than half of retirees fail to consult a financial advisor, according to Society of Actuaries' 2013 Retirement Risk Survey. What's troubling is that 96 percent of pre-retirees and 89 percent of retirees in the same study admitted that they are concerned about reaching retirement in time or with enough. With the Fed's continued tapering of its quantitative easing policy, investors may find their confidence wane even further.
In a timely announcement, AdviceIQ, a financial data and publishing company, is hosting the inaugural National Financial Advisor Week (NFAW) in New York City to recognize the work that financial advisors do and to provide valuable resources to investors of every experience level. Hewins Financial, a national, CPA-based financial advisory firm, is participating. Consultant Karl Schwartz will be a speaker on the "What Can a Financial Advisor Do for Me?" panel on Wednesday, September 17.
"Many people are skeptical about working with a financial advisor or not really clear on what benefits they will receive from working with one," says Schwartz, who also has a strategic leadership role developing integrated wealth management relationships in CPA and RIA firms for Hewins.
"Most people wouldn't read a book or two, attend a weekend seminar and then perform open heart surgery on themselves, so why attempt to do this with your finances? This event is a giant step towards helping the typical investor understand why it's so important to work with an advisor. This field is very complex and a lot of investors don't realize it. A good advisor can take care of your finances the way a doctor takes care of your health."
NFAW offers free registration to investors, including panel discussions, professional networking events and one-on-one advice sessions. For more information on the NFAW, please visit https://nfaw.com/about/investors/.
