Got milk? Launches Hispanic Heritage "Futuro Con Leche" Scholarship Program with New Campaign Featuring Successful Hispanics Jose Hernandez, Victor Cruz and Karla Martinez
MIAMI, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hispanic got milk? campaign celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by launching the Futuro con Leche scholarship program in conjunction with a new campaign print ad featuring successful Latinos including Despierta America co-host, Karla Martinez; NFL® wide receiver, Victor Cruz; and NASA astronaut, Jose Hernandez.

Got milk? has partnered with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to award Hispanic high school seniors with $40,000 in scholarships to help them further their education. As part of the application, students must submit an essay that captures the importance of milk as part of a breakfast routine to help fuel daily achievement. Students are asked to write a maximum of 250 words telling us about their high school journey and how breakfast with milk daily has helped in their success.
To further support the Futuro con Leche scholarship program got milk? created a special print ad with Hispanic figures that embody the definition of success: Karla Martinez, a graduate of University of Texas, and co-host on the highest-rated morning show on Spanish television; Jose Hernandez, a graduate of University of California at Santa Barbara and NASA astronaut; and Victor Cruz, University of Massachusetts graduate and celebrated NFL® wide receiver. All three have achieved a great level of success in their respective careers and know how important a daily breakfast with milk is to help prepare you for a successful day.
The Futuro con Leche scholarships are available on a competitive basis to graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage. Students must be enrolled full-time as a first year freshmen or first year community college student during the 2013-2014 academic year. To apply, please visit_hsf.net/futuroconleche. Applications welcomed from September 15, 2012 – December 31, 2012. Ten $4,000 scholarships will be awarded.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be of Hispanic heritage
- Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident with permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
- Be a graduating high school senior with plans to enroll full-time in a degree-seeking program at a four-year or two-year accredited U.S. institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the 2013-2014 academic year
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
- Must be eligible to receive a Pell grant
- Must write a maximum 250 word essay on the importance of milk as part of your breakfast routine to help fuel daily achievement in the classroom
- Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
