CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The final day of the Energy Storage Association (ESA) 26th Annual Conference and Expo kicked off with a keynote address from Richard Duke, Deputy Director, White House Office of Energy and Climate Change. Duke discussed climate and energy policy following the Paris accord, and how storage can play a role in the U.S.'s energy future.
"When you step back and think about this power sector transformation in the U.S., in context with the global picture coming out of Paris, we really are at a global inflection point on energy markets and associated technologies like storage," said Richard Duke. "The U.S. needs to make sure to continue to drive this conversation, both diplomatically and domestically, in terms of innovation, and I have confidence that all of you here will help us do that."
"Rick Duke's participation in the ESA Annual Conference brought into focus the importance of energy storage on a domestic and global level, even more amplified by the USTDA's participation today," said Matt Roberts, Executive Director of Energy Storage Association. "This year's conference created an excellent opportunity for the many energy storage stakeholders to come together and discuss the future of the industry as well as our role in the future of energy generation and distribution."
The conference closed with a panel discussion, developed in collaboration with the US Trade & Development Agency (USTDA), which brought together executive leaders and decision makers from around the globe to discuss the rise of energy storage and offer analysis into how various countries are utilizing storage to address grid challenges.
"USTDA is proud to have brought 30 delegates from eight of the world's fastest-growing markets to this exciting event," said Leocadia I. Zak, Director of the USTDA. "We believe it will be a win-win for our overseas partners who are seeking innovative solutions that can help them meet their energy goals and for U.S. firms looking to expand their international presence."
