TEL AVIV, Israel, Dec.13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- WhiteSource, the leader in open source security and license compliance management, announced today that it had won the Comparably 2018 Q4 Culture Awards as one of the Best Companies for Women.
"Women make up half of the population, so why would we try to grow our company with one hand tied behind our back," says WhiteSource CEO Rami Sass. "We appreciate the recognition for our ongoing efforts to make WhiteSource one of the best companies for women to build their careers. By working to be a more welcoming and supportive company for all our employees, at the end of the day we make our products better and our customers happier."
WhiteSource has undergone extensive growth over the past year, more than doubling the headcount of the previous year. Women comprise 30% of the total roster and made up over 20% of new hires in 2018.
"We are acutely aware of the imbalance in the tech workforce," explains VP of HR Michal Adler, noting the challenge facing the technology sector in bringing more female hires. This shortage is most strongly felt in the technical roles such as R&D and Product, two areas where the company has been successful in bringing on more women to fill these positions.
"Developing a culture that promotes the parity of women in the workforce should be the standard for all employers," said Jason Nazar, Comparably CEO. "Comparably's Best Companies for Women celebrates businesses that are rated the highest by their own female employees. They serve as examples for what workplaces should be like for all women."
Adler cites WhiteSourcen's push to offer opportunities for female employees to advance to leadership roles as playing a key part in creating a more diverse workplace. "We have made nurturing a cadre of female role models in leadership positions a part of our strategy for making WhiteSource a great place for women to work, and in continuing a company culture that will attract more fantastic talent as we continue to grow our team."
Following the $35 million Series C funding round in October, led by Susquehanna Growth Equity, WhiteSource has made a push to scale up hiring across all departments to support the rising market demand for their industry leading Software Composition Analysis solution.
WhiteSource is the leader in continuous open source security and license compliance management. Its vision is to empower businesses to develop better software by harnessing the power of open source. Industry leaders like Microsoft, IBM, and hundreds more trust WhiteSource to secure and manage the open source components in their software.
