RICHMOND, Va., Sep 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- (www.myprgenie.com) -- Following a year of stunning victories for Tea Party-backed candidates, the upcoming Presidential Straw Poll at the October Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention may allow some candidates to claim an early jump in the effort to unseat President Obama.
The straw poll, one of the first of the 2012 campaign, will be administered by leading conservative media group Human Events at the inaugural Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention, Oct. 8-9, in Richmond, Va.
Candidates bolstered by support from Tea Party, Patriot and 9/12 groups have upset heavily favored candidates from Florida to Alaska, shocking the D.C. establishment, but not the 60% of Americans who disapprove of the direction in which Washington is taking America.
"Stop! No more!"
The Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention, themed "The Constitution Still Matters," will be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, and is sponsored by the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation.
"The hunger of the federal government -- all three branches -- is insatiable," says Jamie Radtke, Chairman of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation. "Their hunger for power, control of our daily lives and our personal choices, and most of all our money, grows daily. At the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention, citizens who have never been a part of the political games will stand up and say, 'Stop! No more!'"
"This is a historic moment for our nation, and Virginia is again leading the way," says Mark Lloyd, Vice-Chairman of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Foundation. "We the people are taking up the cause of America's Founders, fighting a fiscally irresponsible, constitutionally impure government."
"Like the Founders, we are on the right side of the facts, the right side of history, and the right side of this fight," says Karen Miner Hurd, Communications Director of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation. "Our momentum is growing, and the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation has not yet begun to fight!"

The Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention also will feature nationally known speakers such as Lou Dobbs, Dick Morris, John Fund, Herman Cain, JennyBeth Martin and Virginia (Ginni) Lamp Thomas, political leaders, and 40+ educational breakout seminars focused on the Constitution, and public policy and grassroots activist training.
