WildFireWeb® Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for Tinder® Trademark Infringement Lawsuit

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In February 2015, WildFireWeb®, Inc. filed a lawsuit in Federal court against Tinder, Inc. and IAC Interactive Corp. for trademark infringement of its registered Tinder® trademark.

Tinder® from WildFireWeb®, Inc. is cloud based content management software that enables K-12 schools and school districts, non-profit organizations, individuals and businesses to manage their own website content and features. WildFireWeb developed its Tinder® mark and graphic in 2007 and has been using the Tinder name and logo in commerce since February 2010. WildFireWeb obtained a US Federal trademark registration in July 2011 for the word Tinder®.

Tinder, Inc. started using the name Tinder in August 2012 for its dating application as well as for its website at http://gotinder.com and obtained a US Federal trademark registration for its dating application in February 2014.

WildFireWeb believes that Tinder, Inc.'s use of the Tinder mark harms WildFireWeb's Tinder® trademark, WildFireWeb's ability to promote and market its Tinder® software, its relationship with its current customers, its ability to acquire future customers, and threatens its current and future revenues and profits.

Trademark laws exist to protect businesses from infringement, but protecting a trademark is a costly and time consuming process. It is one thing to go through all the proper procedures to register a trademark, but another thing altogether to be in a position to defend it. As a small company with limited resources, WildFireWeb has established a crowdfunding campaign at IndieGoGo for those that would like to help support its effort to protect its trademark.
