Wilmington's Cucalorus Film Festival Seeks Artists, Activists & Innovative Awkwards
WILMINGTON, N.C., May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cucalorus seeks submissions from filmmakers, choreographers, video artists, vagabonds, vigilantes, and activists for the upcoming 19th annual Cucalorus Film Festival, held in historic Wilmington, NC, November 13-17, 2013. Cucalorus, a free-spirited and multidisciplinary showcase, screens an unexpected collection of independent and international films with special programs on social justice, emerging artists, shorts, works-in-progress, dance, music videos, North Carolina, and international cinema. The festival screens 200 films (including more than 140 shorts!!!) and attracts filmmakers who come together for good times and audience interaction.
"Bold, insightful programming, a laid-back rock and roll atmosphere and gorgeous seaside locale no doubt contribute to the 'summer camp for filmmakers' vibe, making Cucalorus the best kept secret on the indie fest circuit." – MOVIEMAKER Magazine
In addition to explosive and engaging films, the festival supports innovation through programs like Dance-a-lorus, a live performance featuring collaborations between choreographers and filmmakers; and Visual/Sound/Walls, an experimental venue crammed full of music videos, surf movies and installations. The festival showcases a strong schedule of socially aware and politically challenging films, which engage audiences on contemporary issues.
All film submissions must include an entry form, an embarrassing receipt (or a drawing of your soul) and fee. The entry fee is $25 if postmarked by June 20, $35 if postmarked by July 10, and $45 if postmarked by July 25. For more information visit: www.cucalorus.org or withoutabox.com.
