PALO ALTO, Calif., March 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, is pleased to announce that David R. Stewart has become a partner at the firm. Stewart specializes in antitrust and intellectual property litigation, and has represented a broad array of technology, financial, and industrial clients before U.S., European, and Asian courts and regulatory agencies. He will divide his time between the firm's Seattle and Palo Alto offices.
"Dave's well-rounded background and wide range of skills make him an ideal addition to our litigation and antitrust practices," said CEO Steve Bochner. "He has extensive experience successfully representing companies in high-stakes, high-profile antitrust and IP matters; he served in-house at both a major software company and a venture-backed start-up; and he has substantial international experience, especially in Asia and Europe. He will be a great asset for our clients, and we look forward to welcoming him at the firm."
Stewart joins the firm from Howrey, where he served as a litigation partner in the San Francisco office. Among other matters, he defended telecommunications giant Qualcomm before the Korean Fair Trade Commission in a five-year investigation addressing competition and intellectual property matters. Prior to joining Howrey, Stewart was vice president and deputy general counsel at RealNetworks in Seattle, where he led the company's successful landmark antitrust litigation and regulatory initiatives against Microsoft in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Korea. Earlier, he had served as senior vice president, chief administrative officer, and general counsel of Emerald Solutions, a Seattle-based technology start-up, as well as an associate and then partner at Sidley Austin in Chicago and New York, where he successfully defended the American Bar Association in seven private antitrust lawsuits.
