Winners Announced in Bullying Academy National Contest

Final contest for the 2012 - 2013 school year sees champions from coast to coast

DAVIE, Fla., June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bullying Academy (www.bullyingacademy.org), a web-based interactive program designed to help 4th-8th grade students recognize the dangers associated with bullying and cyberbullying has announced the 5 national champions of the program's bi-annual contest. 

Over 2800 students located coast to coast participated in the January to May 2013 contest by completing an assessment quiz gauging their knowledge.  The program requires students to take a pre-quiz to establish their knowledge on bullying and cyberbullying, then go on to cover age appropriate material through multimedia and text resources.  The program culminates in a post-quiz to demonstrate the increase of understanding on the student's part.  The top 20 scores from each school are compared against all other schools in the competition, with a national champion being named for each grade.   

The top schools from the January to May contest include:

  • Cloverly Elementary School in Temple City, CA (4th grade)
  • Evans Elementary School in Marlton, NJ (5th grade)
  • Orville A. Todd Middle School in Poughkeepsie, NY (6th grade)
  • Murdock Middle School in Port Charlotte, FL (7th grade)
  • Pembroke Pines Charter Middle Central Campus in Pembroke Pines, FL (8th grade)

Both Murdock Middle School and Pembroke Pines Charter are no strangers to winning as they were recently named champions in the September to December 2012 contest period as well.  Evans Elementary School's 4th grade class now holds the highest score in the program across the country for the entire school year.  Evesham Township Public School District in New Jersey, where Evans Elementary School is located, also had 2 other schools in the Bullying Academy's Top 10 scores as well.
