Winston & Strawn Expands Litigation Practice With Addition of Richard Falek to New York Office

NEW YORK, May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Winston & Strawn LLP announced today that Richard Falek has joined its New York office as a partner.  His practice focuses on antitrust and trade regulation issues, particularly mergers and acquisitions requiring Hart-Scott-Rodino Act filings, as well as state and foreign filings and approvals.  He joins Winston from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he was a member of the antitrust and litigation departments.

Falek's 15-year legal career spans a wide range of antitrust matters, in both the transactional and litigation arenas, adding a new dimension to the New York office's capabilities.  While his arrival bolsters the office's distinguished litigation team, Falek also brings a distinct corporate background and skill set that will allow Winston to provide expanded advice to clients about antitrust issues in all types of transactions, including private equity and M&A deals.

As part of his versatile career, Falek has overseen all antitrust aspects of numerous transactions in diverse industries.  Falek provides antitrust oversight from the inception of the transaction, beginning with the initial discussions between the parties, through the deal structuring and documentation, and then through the completion of the HSR process and other regulatory approvals.  Falek has significant experience working with the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, state regulators and foreign competition authorities.

In additional to his transactional work, Falek has also handled myriad types of civil and criminal antitrust litigation matters.  He also has wide-ranging litigation experience including matters arising out of private equity transactions, as well as intellectual property, defamation and real estate, among many others.  His high-profile clients have included professional sports leagues and franchises, as well as major U.S. financial institutions and retailers.

Falek received his J.D., from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a B.A., summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany where he was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa.
