Winter Cheer To Be Projected Onto Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall This December
Atlantic City Alliance Announces New, Free 'Winter Sweet' 3D Light & Sound Show on the Facade of Boardwalk Hall on the Iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Atlantic City Alliance (ACA) announced a new 3D light and sound show by Moment Factory, the multimedia and entertainment studio behind the successful "Duality" show currently projected onto Boardwalk Hall every night. "Winter Sweet" is winter-themed and incorporates Boardwalk Hall's majestic architecture into the show, much like "Duality." Since its debut on July 4, 2012, "Duality" has been seen by over 200,000 people. Moment Factory's second permanent show for Atlantic City, "Winter Sweet" will play every half hour from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning Saturday, December 1.
Created to celebrate the wonders of winter, the new show juxtaposes the beauty and elegance of the season with the childhood joys of snow, candy and holiday icons. Similar to "Duality," "Winter Sweet" uses groundbreaking, 3D light and sound techniques to bring Boardwalk Hall alive night after night. The seven-minute show is free and open to the public and will feature three distinct scenes, which present very different winter worlds. Moment Factory is the world-renowned production house responsible for the creation of both "Duality" and "Winter Sweet." By using hundreds of visual elements, including a number of 3D effects in this newest holiday show, Moment Factory aims to capture the enchanting season and heartwarming, memorable moments of winter.
The first scene, "Snow and Ice," features the historic Boardwalk Hall freezing over as winter approaches. Projections of dancing ballerinas, softly falling snow and a train that appears to be chugging along the top of the building continue to evoke the magical season until a crumbling effect acts as a transition to the second world. In "Winter Village," Boardwalk Hall is transformed into a candy wonderland, lit by the glow of candles and sugary treats. "Illumination" is the third and final scene and features elegant ornaments and intricate lighting that eventually "melts" the surface of the building as spring and new beginnings come to Atlantic City.
"It's a real pleasure for our team at Moment Factory to continue collaborating with the Atlantic City Alliance," said Sakchin Bessette, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Moment Factory. "The public's reaction to 'Duality' has been amazing. With this new sound and light experience, we want to dive into the magical world of winter with its festive atmosphere, as well as showcase the elegance and the beauty of the season. This show is a celebration of winter, and we hope it will bring warmth and magic to the people of Atlantic City and their visitors."
In addition to celebrating the holiday season, the show is a testament to the city as it continues to move forward after Hurricane Sandy. Erroneous reports indicated that the iconic boardwalk had been destroyed; however, Atlantic City suffered minimal damage and reopened after five business days. The boardwalk remains intact and open for business.
"Atlantic City has always been known as a place for joy and celebration," said Liza Cartmell, President of the Atlantic City Alliance. "This new show celebrates the season, but also the resilience of Atlantic City. Even as the building ices over and winter swiftly falls, we see magic emerge in the form of different elements that bring the building to life even in winter."
In addition to "Winter Sweet," the Atlantic City Alliance will be launching a new advertising campaign this winter and shopping initiatives designed to encourage locals and visitors to do their holiday shopping in Atlantic City. Also in Atlantic City this month is a $600,000 holiday lighting program and holiday parade welcoming the new season on December 1. For more information, please visit www.doatlanticcity.com.
