W.K. Kellogg Foundation releases 2016 annual report: "Real Change for Children: Creating Equitable Communities"

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) announces the release of its 2016 annual report: "Real Change for Children: Creating Equitable Communities."

The report presents a preview of the foundation's refined grantmaking priorities, which emerged following a series of 14 community conversations with more than 1,600 grantees and partners. The updated priorities – Thriving Children, Working Families and Equitable Communities – sharpen the foundation's focus, as it continues to build upon and leverage eight decades of work in advancing real change for children and creating more equitable communities.

In addition to a visual of the grantmaking priorities, the 2016 annual report includes individual grant highlights, letters from Tabron and Board Chair Ramón Murguía, financial statements and grantmaking summaries.

Grantmaking at a glance
During the fiscal year of Sept. 1 2015, through Aug. 31, 2016, the Kellogg Foundation made $429 million in new commitments to 812 new projects, as well as paid grant and program expenditures of $340 million to its active projects.

In its home state of Michigan, the foundation made new grant commitments of $61 million, with $14 million of that in its hometown of Battle Creek. In its other priority places, the foundation committed $46 million in New Mexico; $13 million in New Orleans; $31 million in Mississippi; $17 million in Mexico; and $15 million in Haiti.
