Wolters Kluwer Announces Appointments to Its Legal Education Board of Editorial Advisors
NEW YORK, May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. today announced that Rachel Barkow of New York University Law School and Tracey Meares of Yale University Law School have been appointed to the Editorial Advisory Board for its Legal Education business, the leading provider of high-quality instructional and learning solutions to U.S. law schools. The Editorial Advisory Board, drawn from distinguished scholars and educators, provides insight and guidance to help Wolters Kluwer Legal Education fulfill its mission of partnering with law schools to help today's law students achieve long-term career success in the legal field.
Rachel E. Barkow is the Segal Family Professor of Regulatory Law and Policy and the Faculty Director of the Center on the Administration of Criminal Law at New York University. In June of 2013, the Senate confirmed her as a Member of the United States Sentencing Commission. Since 2010, she has also been a member of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office Conviction Integrity Policy Advisory Panel. In 2013, she was the recipient of the NYU Distinguished Teaching Award. The Law School awarded her its Podell Distinguished Teaching Award in 2007. Prof. Barkow served as a law clerk to Judge Laurence H. Silberman on the District of Columbia Circuit, and Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. Her scholarship focuses on criminal law, and she is especially interested in applying the lessons and theory of administrative and constitutional law to the administration of criminal justice.
Tracey L. Meares is the Walton Hale Hamilton Professor of Law at Yale University. Before arriving at Yale, she was Max Pam Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Studies in Criminal Justice at the University of Chicago Law School. Before going into academia, Professor Meares held positions clerking for the Honorable Harlington Wood, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and as an Honors Program Trial Attorney in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. Professor Meares has worked extensively with the federal government, having served on the Committee on Law and Justice, a National Research Council Standing Committee of the National Academy of Sciences from 2004–2011. In November of 2010, Ms. Meares was named by Attorney General Eric Holder to sit on the Department of Justice's newly-created Science Advisory Board. In December 2014, President Obama named her as a member of his Task Force on 21st Century Policing. Professor Meares's teaching and research interests focus on criminal procedure and criminal law policy, with a particular emphasis on empirical investigation of these subjects.
