Women's Art Exhibit Brings Renown Artists to the DC Area to Celebrate the Natural World
MIDDLEBURG, Va., Oct. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A Vision of Nature: American Women Artists opened on October 2nd at the National Sporting Library & Museum with a ceremony giving $38,000 in awards for women artists in the U.S. and Canada. A Vision of Nature is open to the public through March 22, 2026. This exhibit is American Women Artists' ninth museum exhibition as part of the 25 in 25 campaign, an initiative to have 25 museum shows over 25 years to increase the percentage of women' artwork in U.S. permanent collections, currently at less than 13%.
The Grand Prize of $10,000 sponsored by the Janet and Robert Lee Family Fund was awarded to Pamela White from Pennsylvania. An additional $28,000 in awards were given to Diana Reuter-Twining, Kathrine Lemke-Waste, Carol Carter, Lori Kiplinger Pandy, Lisa Gleim, Kimberly Beck, Jill Stefani Wagner, Cynthie Fisher, Katherine Frey Galbraith, Sally Maxwell, Suzie Seerey-Lester, Deborah R. Hill, Tracy L. Anderson, Carmen Drake, Star Liana York, Linda Volrath, and Annette Hammer.

For this exhibition 56 exceptional artworks were selected out of 531 entries. Selection jurors included women at the top of their field in arts administration including Shannon Fitzgerald, Executive Director at The Mennello Museum of American Art, Claudia Pfeiffer, Deputy Director & Head Curator at the National Sporting Library & Museum, and Robin Knowlton, Former Executive Director at AWA and Former Owner at The Knowlton Gallery.
AWA's next opportunity for exhibition and awards is Of Mark & Meaning at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, TN. The call for entries is now open on the AWA website until October 17, 2025.
