World Armwrestling League Partners With AEG And FOX Sports Co-Founder Ed Goren Who Joins The League As Executive Producer
CHICAGO, July 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- World Armwrestling League (WAL) announced it has entered into a partnership with AEG as part of its continuing effort to expand the league's reach and build a deeper relationship with its fanbase in key markets across the U.S.
The AEG partnership is the second major collaboration WAL has forged in 2018, after signing a multi-year deal with Turner Sports to broadcast WAL events on its new BR Live platform. With unmatched expertise in event ticketing and promotion, as well as its network of venues, including four used for the 2018 WAL "Supermatch Showdown Series," AEG brings WAL a turnkey solution that will ensure a premium live event experience for fans of the growing sport and league.
"We are actively seeking ways to enhance our global footprint and improve our fan experience, and AEG is the perfect partner to help us achieve those goals," said Steve Kaplan, WAL President and Commissioner. "Backed by AEG's venue network, ticketing and marketing services, we can ensure a live event experience that is commensurate with what today's sports fans have come to expect, and as WAL continues its meteoric growth, AEG has the venues to assure that our fans will continue to receive the same immersive experience."
"Armwrestling has developed into a proven sports commodity with a substantial global following, and the World Armwrestling League has established itself as the premium source for the most exciting athletes and events in the sport," said Mark Girton, Vice President of Sales. "We're excited about our strategic partnership with WAL as it allows us to use our expertise and extensive network of sports and entertainment resources to help take the World Armwrestling League, and the sport itself, to the next level."
In addition to its AEG partnership, WAL announced a new addition to its impressive leadership team – former FOX Sports Co-Founder and Vice Chairman Ed Goren will serve as an Executive Producer and Senior Advisor for WAL. A 47-time Emmy Award winner and 2012 Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee, Goren brings a wealth of knowledge and proven industry experience to oversee production and media strategy efforts at WAL.
"Back in the heyday of ABC's Wide World of Sports, armwrestling was one of its top rated shows and I was one of those viewers," said Goren, WAL Executive Producer. "The World Armwrestling League has taken the sport to a new level. I'm looking forward to our Los Angeles event and providing our passionate fans with an immersive and unique experience."
WAL is right in the middle of its "2018 Supermatch Showdown Series," with events in Norfolk on July 19 and Los Angeles on August 9 setting the stage for the season Championship on September 5 in Atlanta.
