World's Only Off-Road Truck Race On Snow Returns To Maine On January 8

NEWRY, Maine, Nov. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- It was just three years ago when the only off-road Pro 4 truck race on snow, Red Bull Frozen Rush, first premiered on the slopes of Maine's Sunday River Ski Resort and it will be during the first full week of 2016 when the world will once again experience motorsports innovation at its best. Temperatures will drop to below freezing and the normally warm weather 900-horspower engines and their drivers will battle the elements on Friday, January 8, 2016 to capture the coveted first place crown. The competition will be broadcasted live and on demand on Red Bull TV as part of the Red Bull Signatures Series, a collection of the most progressive events in action sports.

Going head-to-head and pitting season-long rivals against each other on unpredictable terrain is what makes the high-flying, gate-dodging, and snow-sliding action of speeding Pro 4 trucks with specially spiked tires so exhilarating and dramatic to watch. Red Bull Frozen Rush's young and hungry reigning champion, Bryce Menzies edged out the previous year's winner and motorsports legend Ricky Johnson in 2015. This year, he will look to hold on to his place at the top, having recently found success racing Pro 4's full time. 

"The cold is bitter and unforgiving. It messes with the equipment but my team and I welcome the challenge of figuring out the best way to succeed," said the 28-year-old Menzies. "Last year I came to win, this year I intend to dominate."

Unfortunately, dominance won't come easy over this year's field of champions. Ricky Johnson, Scott Douglas, Rob MacCachren, and Carl Renezeder all return for their third year of competition at Red Bull Frozen Rush. Last year's newcomers, RJ Anderson and Chad Hord, will also be bringing the heat to Maine. Johnny Greaves will be back for another shot at the title, one he narrowly missed just two years ago, while his son CJ Greaves, hot off a record-breaking season, will hit the snow for his first time.

The United States Auto Club, one of auto racing's leading governing bodies and an international motorsports authority, has sanctioned the race for its third year and will again oversee safety and competition to ensure that Red Bull Frozen Rush will be an amazing experience for both spectators and competitors alike. One-of-a-kind, studded and specially designed All-Terrain tires from BFGoodrich's Research and Development team will outfit each vehicle, enabling it to power up the hill.

Red Bull Frozen Rush will webcast live at 12:00 pm ET on Friday, January 8, 2016 on Red Bull TV player.
