Worldwide RAN Market Tops $16 B in 1H 2014, Growing at the Fastest Pace Since 2011 According to Dell'Oro Group

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A recently published report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, reveals that the worldwide Radio Access Network (RAN) market advanced at a double-digit rate in the second quarter 2014, recording its strongest year-over-year growth rate since the third quarter of 2011.

"The same phenomenon that transpired in advanced LTE markets such as Canada, Japan, Korea, and the U.S., with service providers competing to complete LTE coverage, is now being emulated in China and parts of Europe," said Stefan Pongratz, Director of Dell'Oro Group's RAN and Small Cells research. • Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia accounted for 33%, 24%, and 17% of the combined WCDMA/LTE market in 1H 2014.
• Ericsson, Huawei, and Alcatel-Lucent held the number one, two and three rankings for LTE RAN revenues, both in the quarter and on a four-quarter trailing basis.
• Total RAN (macro and small cell) market is expected to advance at a low single-digit rate for a second consecutive year in 2014 while the market is expected to decline in 2015.
