Wounded Warrior Project Partners with National Military Family Association to Support Military Families
WASHINGTON, Feb. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) announced a new multi-year grant to the National Military Family Association (NMFA), a nonprofit that helps military families meet the unique challenges of military life. Through their work, NMFA strengthens and protect millions of families through its advocacy and programs. They also provide spouse scholarships, camps for military kids, and retreats for families reconnecting after deployment and for the families of the wounded, ill, or injured.
This $750,000 in funding will provide resources for NMFA (https://www.militaryfamily.org) to:
- Send 1,600 children to Operation Purple Camp, a specialized summer camp for military children whose parents have recently deployed, are planning to deploy, or are coping with an injury.
- Enable up to 200 family members of wounded servicemembers to attend Operation Purple Healing Adventures retreats.
"The National Military Family Association has supported the military community for almost 50 years – advising decision-makers and government officials, and providing direct support to families," said René Bardorf, WWP senior vice president of government and community relations. "These camps provide military kids all over the country an opportunity to connect with each other, prepare for their parent's deployment, and cope with the stresses of being a military kid.
