WTAS Welcomes Two New Managing Directors to Its Fast Growing Metro New York Tax Practice
NEW YORK, June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- WTAS welcomes two Managing Directors to a new office that will be based in Melville, Long Island, thus completing the firm's expansion across the entire Metro New York area. Peter Crocco and Wayne Trumbull join WTAS as Managing Directors from True Partners Consulting where they practiced corporate tax and state and local tax, respectively.
The firm's new team focuses on accounting for income taxes under ASC 740, federal and state tax compliance, federal and state tax controversy matters, strategic tax planning and sales and use tax consulting. The team provides federal and state tax services to a broad range of middle market clients across many industries, including manufacturing, publishing, media and entertainment, and software development.

Peter Crocco will lead the federal tax practice in Long Island. Peter has more than 18 years of experience as a tax advisor and advocate for his clients. His practice focuses on accounting for income taxes under ASC 740, tax controversy matters including IRS audit representation, tax compliance and transaction advisory. In addition, Peter currently manages the tax function for several publically traded companies including tax reporting, tax compliance, strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions. During his career, Peter worked at Ernst & Young, LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP and was on rotation with the National Tax Office of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in their Mergers & Acquisition Tax Group.
Wayne Trumbull will lead the state and local tax practice in Long Island. Wayne has over 15 years of tax experience all focused on advising clients about complex state income and sales and use tax matters. Wayne's primary focus is on serving middle market companies in the areas of tax compliance, tax planning and structuring, tax controversy, voluntary disclosure initiatives and impact of acquisitions, dispositions and changes in state tax laws on his client's state effective tax rate. He also specializes in the state tax side of ASC 740 accounting for income taxes, including identifying and resolving uncertain tax positions (FIN 48) and FAS 5 concerns. In addition, Wayne has extensive experience advising on sales and use tax systems, compliance and taxability of products and services. Prior to joining True Partners Consulting, Wayne worked in the state and local tax practice at Ernst & Young, LLP and was one of the founding partners of Affinity Tax Group, a highly successful boutique tax practice specializing in complex federal and state tax matters.
