PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., March 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Parker Waichman LLP, a national law firm that has spent many years fighting to ensure that the heroes and survivors of the September 11th terrorist attacks are never forgotten, offers its condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Brian S. Falb, a state trooper and 9/11 responder who recently passed away from cancer. He developed cancer after helping in the rescue and recovery efforts associated with the World Trade Center (WTC) terrorist attacks. (http://www.fox5ny.com/news/243207663-story)
A powerful image, captured by photographer Damian Battinelli, shows the impact of 9/11-related cancers on responders and their families. The gripping photo shows Falb's young son kissing his father's casket as he says his final goodbye. According to Fox 5 News, Falb's wife asked Battinelli to photograph the funeral.
Hundreds of police officers from around the nation came to pay their respects to Trooper Falb.
Sadly, Trooper Falb is one of many responders to develop 9/11-related cancer. Battinelli emphases the need to talk about 9/11-related cancers, pointing out that many people may not know about the health benefits available through the Zadroga Act. The Act offers free medical treatment and monitoring through the WTC Health Program and compensation through the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF).
Parker Waichman comments that many responders, residents and survivors developed health problems, including cancer, as a result of toxic dust exposure at Ground Zero. The firm has had the honor of getting to know the Falb family in recent months. "Our hearts go out to Brian's family during this difficult time," said Keith Gitman, Managing Attorney at the firm. "His passing is a sad reminder that we must never stop fighting for the rights of 9/11 responders and survivors. Although the attacks took place 15 years ago, responders, survivors, and their families continue to experience the effects today."
Parker Waichman emphasizes the importance of the VCF and the WTC Health Program and is proud to have fought alongside Ground Zero residents, workers, first responders, and other survivors and advocates, to help ensure passage of Zadroga Act amendments. The firm vows to continue its efforts to safeguard all those who were exposed to Ground Zero's toxic cloud and the trauma of the attacks, and ensure that all of the deserved Zadroga Act compensation is received.
