XL Group Appoints Alfred Bergbauer as New Head of Multinational Casualty in North America

NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Intent on growing their North American primary casualty business using their extensive global network, the insurance operations of XL Group plc (NYSE: XL) today announced the appointment of Alfred Bergbauer as Head of Multinational Casualty.  Mr. Bergbauer will report directly to Ken Riegler, President of XL Group's North American Primary Casualty group and maintain offices in both New York and Philadelphia.

Mr. Bergbauer joins XL Group from Marsh USA, Inc. where he served as multinational client service leader for the east zone since 2006.  Mr. Bergbauer brings more than 25 years of international insurance industry experience, working in the US, China, Hong Kong, and the Philippines for such companies as ACE USA, Winterthur Insurance, Liberty Mutual Group, Continental Insurance and Insular General Insurance Company.  He earned a BA in Journalism from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio and an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in Wellesley, MA, and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
