York Regional Police serves more than 1.1 million residents, and for many years sought a method for obtaining a complete picture of its rapidly evolving data assets. This need increased throughout 2015, with 208,211 citizen-generated calls for service, 33,202 criminal and federal violations, and 4,291 criminal traffic violations.
In this data intensive environment, commanders and officers required a BI and analytics solution to help identify crime trends, gain a better understanding of daily activity, and develop a macro view of significant events throughout the region. After reviewing solutions from multiple vendors, Information Builders' LEA framework was selected for its time-to-implementation, completeness of offering, and cost effectiveness.
