YouCaring and Houston Texans' JJ Watt Team Up to Raise Money for Hurricane Harvey Recovery Efforts

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- YouCaring, the world's trusted leader in free crowdfunding for personal, medical, and charitable causes, today announced that Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt has initiated a fundraiser on YouCaring to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey. He has personally contributed $100,000 to the cause, JJ Watt's Houston Flood Relief Fund. The campaign quickly surpassed its initial $200,000 goal, which has now been raised to $500,000, and is currently one of the largest relief fundraisers for Hurricane Harvey. 

"The recovery efforts after Hurricane Harvey are going to be massive, and many people will need our help to get back on their feet," said Watt. "It's extremely difficult to have to watch the events unfold on TV and not be able to get back to Houston to help - but hopefully this fundraiser will help show our love and support to those who need it the most right now. Hurricane Harvey, now a tropical storm, has wreaked havoc in the Houston area at an unprecedented scale, encompassing thousands of square miles of Southeast Texas and it continues to cause flooding that will affect millions of people. The disaster is considered the worst in Texas' history.
