Zandre Campos CEO of ABO Capital Provides Educational Opportunities for Angolan Students
NEW YORK, Sept. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ABO Capital CEO Zandre Campos sent fifteen students from the Complexo Escolar Privado Internacional (CEPI) school in Angola, to New York to participate in an international high school project competition. Four students recently spoke about their experience participating in the competition and their projects on the Voices of America radio show, "Health Chat," that originally published on August 1, 2017.

During the interview, Niria Cachimbombo and Petra Mussungo, two students from CEPI, discussed how they examined Borututu bark for their project. They discovered that the Borututu bark works well as an antibacterial and natural cleaning agent. Borututu bark is found in various regions of Angola and has antibacterial properties that can replace chemicals in soaps, antibacterial gels and other products to kill bacteria in a more natural way.
Ryan Norton and Marlon Tome, two other students from the CEPI school, chatted about a robot named Hope-Bot they had developed for their project. Hope-Bot was created to showcase how robots can be used to benefit the environment. Using simple plastic Lego pieces, some small motors and sensors, a robot was built to identify and decipher trash from recycling.
"The school supports us a lot, first the teacher helps with the robot and coding and then the school helps so we can build it," said Mr. Norton and Mr. Tome during the interview.
The competition the students participated in was the GENIUS International High School Project Olympiad. Students got the chance to create a project in one of the five sectors including, science, visual performance, business, writing and robotics. Fifteen CEPI students flew from Angola to Oswego, NY to showcase their work and compete against other high school students from around the globe. The students created 12 projects across several fields and received numerous accolades for their work. Annually, CEPI students attend several academic Olympics around the world. The school has attended more than 20 competitions and the students have won approximately 60 awards.
Education is a top priority of ABO Capital. In June, ABO Capital announced the purchase of CEPI, an award-winning school that provides education excellence for pre-school through high school students, and has plans to open up three additional schools in the near future.
