Zenoss Announces 3rd Annual Global ZenPack Challenge To Be Held at GalaxZ18

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zenoss Inc., the leader in Software-Defined IT Operations™, announced today that the 2018 Zenoss ZenPack Challenge will take place at the company's GalaxZ18 user conference, June 20-22, 2018, at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas. The deadline for submissions is April 5, 2018.

The ZenPack Challenge is an annual contest that provides an opportunity for developers from around the world to showcase their skills by creating a unique ZenPack for the Zenoss hybrid IT monitoring platform. The challenge is sponsored by SOPRIS Technologies, a provider of end-to-end software and hardware solutions.

The 2018 ZenPack Challenge is open to all developers from anywhere around the world. Two finalists in each category, professional and university, will receive scholarships to attend GalaxZ18. At the conference, the finalists will showcase their ZenPacks on the Partner Showcase floor in front of all conference attendees.

ZenPacks are key elements of the Zenoss value proposition — deepening the platform capabilities by using a highly extensible model to collect health and performance data from all physical, virtual and cloud systems and to integrate with other IT operations systems. Strategic Zenoss partners such as SOPRIS have built entire business practices for the Zenoss platform, and ZenPack development is fundamental to these.

ZenPacks are customizable plug-ins that extend the Zenoss platform using standard APIs and protocols, including SNMP, WMI, SSH and many more, to collect real-time health and performance data from any type of system or application. The flexible, highly extensible ZenPack model allows users to quickly expand the discovery, performance and availability monitoring capabilities of the Zenoss platform to new technologies in their IT environments.

The Zenoss ZenPack Catalog has grown to more than 500 ZenPacks created by Zenoss and the Zenoss development community, covering physical systems, containers, cloud deployments, applications and more.
