WASHINGTON, Nov. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the time of their prostate cancer diagnoses, 80 percent of patients said that they needed more help than what they had received from their doctors. For those men and their families, ZERO360: Comprehensive Patient Support aims to fill that need.
With health insurance options more complex than ever, thousands of prostate cancer patients and their families can find themselves overwhelmed and uncertain. In partnership with the Patient Advocate Foundation, ZERO360 provides free, confidential, one-on-one expertise to guide prostate cancer patients through non-medical aspects of their cancer journey. Services include obtaining insurance coverage, financial aid, and emotional support.
The deadline for open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace is December 15, which gives patients just a few more weeks to get coverage. ZERO360 case managers navigate open enrollment to ensure each prostate cancer patient secures the best insurance plan for him.
"Every prostate cancer patient deserves one-on-one support during his journey. With ZERO360, patients can focus on their health and we help with the rest," said ZERO President & CEO, Jamie Bearse. "Open enrollment is a key time for cancer patients who need help finding and securing insurance coverage that best suits their needs."
On average, 69 percent of patients enrolled in ZERO360 required assistance with navigating insurance and affording their treatments. Most of these patients are over the age of 55, and about 45 percent have Stage IV disease. In its first year, ZERO360 has assisted nearly 400 patients in recouping more than $165,000 in debt relief.
ZERO360 case managers are on call to assist men and their loved ones with insurance coverage and the other challenges of fighting prostate cancer. Contact ZERO360's team at zerocancer.org/zero360 or toll-free at 1-844-244-1309.
