Ziehm Imaging and Pie Medical Imaging Announce Cooperation

NUREMBERG, Germany, May 25, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Ziehm Imaging and Pie Medical Imaging BV have joined forces to make the CAAS quantification software available on mobile C-arms dedicated for cardiovascular procedures. This capability is the result of Ziehm Imaging's strategic partnership with Pie Medical Imaging BV (PMI, Maastricht, the Netherlands), a leading developer of quantitative analysis software for cardiology and radiology. The integration and distribution of PMI's CAAS software with Ziehm Imaging's industry-leading mobile cardiovascular imaging solutions will support the workflow and optimize time efficiencies in quantification during cardiovascular interventions.

Ziehm Imaging's C-arms for cardiovascular procedures combine a high performance monoblock generator and latest flat-panel technology on a mobile platform. The flat-panel detector allows for fully digital, distortion-free imaging and better access to the patient due to the larger C-arm opening and the 165degrees orbital rotation. Thanks to pulse technology at up to 25 frames per second, the system provides sharp, high contrast images of vasculature and soft tissue structures, which is indispensable particularly for complex applications in cardiovascular surgery. Ziehm Imaging's liquid cooling technology "Advanced Active Cooling" allows long fluoroscopy times and ensures continuous imaging. This reliability combines with excellent image quality, once only expected from fixed room systems, is now available in a mobile interventional suite.

Pie Medical's CAAS software will be controlled directly on the C-arm's monitor cart. This enables immediate QCA, QVA and LVA assessment including quantitative measurements of the dimensions of coronary arteries, peripheral vessels and analysis of the left ventricle during intervention. Ziehm Imaging's intuitive user interface with touchscreen will have a direct interface to Pie Medical's latest software solution.
