Zoosk's Singles Reflect on 2010 Report Highlights the Best and the Worst Trends of the Year

Zoosk recently surveyed singles on a series of topics ranging from fashion and technology trends to lifestyle and celebrity news. Below are some of the highlights from Zoosk's Singles Report on 2010 report:

Nearly half of singles have naughty photos of themselves floating around the Internet.

• 43% of singles admit they've sent a naughty photo of themselves before.
• 28% of singles say they haven't yet sent a naughty photo, but wouldn't rule it out.
• 29% of singles say they've never shared a naughty photo of themselves, and won't ever.

It's "cool" if you don't have a Facebook profile.

• 64% of singles say it's "cool" if someone doesn't have a Facebook profile. Not being on Facebook shows one doesn't need to follow the crowd.
• 24% of singles say it's "a tad suspicious" for someone not to be on Facebook.
• 12% of singles say it is "unacceptable" for someone not to be on Facebook.

The phone call may be on its way out, thanks to text messaging. Twitter – not so much.

When asked to state their favorite form of electronic communication:

• 43% of singles say that text message is their preferred form of communication.
• 27% of singles prefer the more traditional phone call.
• 14% of singles prefer to communicate via Facebook.
• 10% of singles prefer email.
• 7% prefer instant message.
• 0% prefer Twitter!

Watch out iPhone – Android comes in a close second as the sexiest smartphone.

When asked to pick the sexiest phone between iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and Windows Phone:

• 34% of singles say the iPhone is the sexiest smartphone.
• 27% vote Android.
• 20% vote Blackberry.
• 15% say "other."
• 4% respond Windows phones. Ouch!

Move over iPad and Kindle – an actual book is sexier than any reading gadget!

When asked to the sexiest gadget between the iPad, Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, and a book:

• 60% of singles say an actual book is sexier than any reading gadget.
• 27% of singles say the iPad is the sexiest reading gadget.
• 7% of singles say the Kindle is the sexiest reading gadget.
• The Nook and the Sony Reader each received 3% of the vote.

When it comes to sharing on social media, women are more private than men.

• 50% of men say they're completely comfortable sharing details about their lives on social media sites.
• 46% of women say they're comfortable sharing details about their lives online.

Skinny jeans and man purses are considered the worst fashion crimes for men this year.

• Skinny jeans and the "murse" tie for ugliest 2010 fashion trend of men, with each trend receiving 35% of the vote as the worst.
• 12% of singles say an "ironic mustache", Colonel Sanders style, is the worst trend of the year.
• 11% of singles say wearing Ed Hardy clothing is the worst trend for men.
• 7% of singles say nerdy glasses are the biggest no-no for men.

Socks with sandals and "mom jeans" are considered the worst fashion crime for women this year.

• Sandals with socks and "mom jeans" tie for ugliest 2010 fashion trend for women, with each trend receiving 27% of the vote as the worst.
• 19% of singles say oversize sunglasses were the biggest fashion faux pas for women.
• 18% of singles say overalls and jumpsuits were the biggest no-no.
• 9% of singles say fur boots are the worst trend.

The oddest celebrity couple award goes to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

From a list of the following seven celebrity odd couples:

• 22% of singles say Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are the oddest celebrity couple.
• 20%s say Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn
• 18% say Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher
• 17% say Katy Perry and Russell Brand
• 10% say Meghan Fox and Brian Austin Green
• 9% say Ice T and Coco
• 4% say Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

The hottest celebrity jailbirds are Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen.

From a list of the hottest male and female celebrities who've had run-ins with the law in 2010:

• 40% of singles say Charlie Sheen is the hottest male celebrity who had a run-in with the law this year. He beat out T.I. (17%), Chris Klein and Lil' Wayne (15% each), and Chace Crawford (13%).
• 33% of singles say Lindsay Lohan is the hottest female celebrity who had a run-in with the law in 2010. She beat out Heather Locklear (30%), Paris Hilton (18%), Snooki (10%) and Foxy Brown (9%).

Looking ahead to 2011, the majority of singles feel optimistic they'll find that special someone next year.

• 77% of singles have a good feeling that they'll meet their special someone in 2011.
• 23% of singles are pessimistic and don't believe they'll find true love in 2011.

Zoosk's Singles Reflect on 2010 report includes results from three unique surveys conducted in August, October and November 2010. Each survey fielded more than 1,000 responses from singles in the United States who use Zoosk.
