WASHINGTON, April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ICMA-RC, a Washington, D.C.-based financial services corporation that administers retirement plans and provides related services for more than one million public sector participant accounts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Montez as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. She reports to ICMA-RC President and CEO, Bob Schultze.
Ms. Montez, who assumed her new role on April 1, oversees ICMA-RC's Legal Division; provides counsel and oversight for all legal and regulatory matters impacting ICMA-RC, its subsidiaries, affiliates and clients; and is a member of the corporation's senior management team. Ms. Montez replaces Kathryn B. McGrath, who retired March 31.

Ms. Montez was promoted from Managing Vice President, Deputy General Counsel & Assistant Secretary and, in that capacity provided legal counsel on employee benefit issues as well as for ICMA-RC's business and operations. She joined ICMA-RC in May 2000 as Corporate Counsel.
Previously, Ms. Montez was an associate with Groom Law Group, Chartered. She interned in the Office of the City Administrator of the District of Columbia while in law school. Prior to law school, she was a Special Assistant in the Office of the Majority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives. Ms. Montez, a native Washingtonian, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a graduate of the National Cathedral School.
