14th Carnegie Center 5K and Fun Run to Raise Funds and Awareness for Parkinson's Research Will be Held on September 28th in Princeton's Carnegie Center

Central Jersey residents and businesses unite to support the Parkinson's disease community

KINGSTON, N.J., Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Parkinson Alliance announced today that the 14^th Carnegie Center 5K and Fun Run (CC5K) will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013, in Princeton's Carnegie Center. In addition to a USATF certified 5K, there will be a one mile fun run and activities for the whole family. Event proceeds will go to Parkinson's research.

According to the Chairman of The Parkinson Alliance, Martin Tuchman, "Our 5K is unique because it brings together runners, walkers, friends and families, as well as corporate teams to raise awareness and funding to support research for better treatments and hopefully one day, a cure."

Held annually in the fall, the CC5K offers multiple ways to participate. While the 5K road race is the main attraction, participants also attend for the fun run and post-race activities which include moon bounces, face painting, refreshments, door prizes, a DJ, and presentation of race awards to top 5K runners and teams.

In 2012, over 700 registered runners (ranging in age from five to 81 years), with the help of donations from corporate sponsors, raised over $76,000. To date, 41 sponsors are on board to support the 2013 CC5K.

Another highlight of the day's activities will include the presentation of the King Award, created in memory of Joseph G. Fennelly, a generous philanthropist and long term volunteer of The Parkinson Alliance, in recognition of a sponsor's dedication and commitment to the Parkinson's community. The 2013 King Award will be presented to Residence Inn by Marriott, Princeton @ Carnegie Center, and owner of the hotel, Scott Landis, Principal of The Landis Group. The Residence Inn by Marriott, Princeton @ Carnegie Center, is an upscale, extended stay hotel, situated in the Carnegie Center area of Route 1.
