2011 BRAVO BUSINESS AWARDS Latin Trade Recognizes Burger King's Behring as Investor of the Year
Brazilian acquisitions pioneer is ninth recipient of this year's BRAVO Business Awards
MIAMI, Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Latin Trade, the leading pan-regional business magazine focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean, announced today that Alex Behring, co-founder and managing partner of 3G Capital, will receive the 2011 Investor of the Year Award at the 17th BRAVO Business Awards on October 28 in Miami.

Behring was the main negotiator in 3G Capital's surprise $4 billion acquisition of Burger King in October last year and now guides a turnaround there as chairman of the board. He also helped lead the deal that formed international brewing giant AB-Inbev, underscoring the global reach of the Brazilian investment partnership, and played a key role in 3G Capital's purchase of shares in U.S. railway CSX. Behring previously served as CEO of Brazil-based America Latina Logistica (ALL), Latin America's largest railroad and logistics company, from 1998 to 2004.

Celebrating excellence and achievement in Latin America and the Caribbean, the BRAVO Business Awards pay tribute to government, business, social and humanitarian leaders for their contributions towards progress in the region. The BRAVO Business Awards black-tie gala will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami on October 28, 2011. The awards ceremony serves as the grand finale of the Latin Trade Symposium, a leading pan-regional conference for the public and private sectors, organized in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Americas Society/Council of the Americas.
As recipient of the Investor of the Year Award, Behring and the other 2011 honorees will attend the gala and be featured in the September/October issue of Latin Trade magazine.
Winners in the Nine Categories:
Lifetime Achievement Award Leonel Fernandez – President of Dominican Republic
President Fernandez was previously honored with the BRAVO Leader of the Year award in 2000 and 2006. This year, Fernandez is being cited for his two decades at the center of Dominican politics.
