This is a grass roots effort to expose the NYS Justice Center Abuse Hotline for what it really is so that this worst type of public corruption can be stopped. This abuse hotline has been acknowledged on tape to be operating fraudulently according NYS Assembly leadership and Oversight & Investigation Chairman Andrew Hevesi- yet it continues to operate this way without being investigated. Thousands of calls of abuse or neglect are reported every month and hundreds of deaths in NYS, yet independent first responder medical and police are unable to immediately respond in most cases. This NYS abuse hotline is allowing providers to investigate themselves regarding criminal matters reported to the State jeopardizing the immediate safety of our most vulnerable citizens and also denying them equal protections provided everyone else through the emergency 911 call system.
The Justice Center Abuse hotline is not treating abuse or neglect of a disabled child or adult as a possible crime or an emergency; directing witnesses to report directly to them not to 911 call centers all across NYS. The Justice Center does not call 911 or believe they have the obligation to notify County elected DA as they have acknowledged in writing. The rampant abuse continues in staggering scope and the pattern of internal investigations also allows the cover ups to continue in NYS since Willowbrook in 1972 and recently since the NY Times "Abused & Used" award-winning investigative reporting series.
Deputy Secretary of Health Courtney Burke, whom oversees the Justice Center hotline and State's mental health agencies, has acknowledged on tape the internal investigations by providers. We are calling for Federal Investigations by US Attorney Preet Bharara because of the staggering scope of cover ups, public corruption, the massive amounts of federal funds fraudulently misappropriated."
