HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Feb. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) held its Seventh Annual Night of Laughter at The Improv Comedy Club at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Event chair Sheri Albert lost her father to cancer and has gotten involved with DDF to help change the grim statistics that all deadly cancer patients face. Albert and her committee hosted a sold out crowd of 400 attendees, raising over $35,000. Albert welcomed attendees and then introduced DDF President and Founder, Debbie Zelman, as a super survivor, one of a small group of very fortunate individuals who have survived against all odds. The night consisted of amazing raffle items, signature Periwinkle Paradise drinks, and hilarious comedians including headliner Adam Ferrara, comedian and actor.
The National Night of Laughter Sponsor was Lilly Oncology. Other major sponsors included Lapayowker Burgess LLP; Bienenfeld, Lasek & Starr, LLC; Dagen Enterprises; Carefree Boat Club; and MIK Construction Group. Warming up the crowd, Stewart Lapayowker, a business aviation attorney, took off his lawyer's hat to entertain the crowd as the Stand Up Sponsor. "It is my pleasure to be involved in this event. The Night of Laughter is always a huge success," said Lapayowker. "Everyone needs a good laugh once in a while, and DDF's Night of Laughter gives people the chance to do just that. I can't say enough about the great things Debbie's Dream Foundation does for patients and their families, and I am so proud to have supported this event for five years in a row."
About Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer
Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about stomach cancer, advancing funding for research, and providing education and support internationally to patients, families, and caregivers. Debbie's Dream Foundation seeks as its ultimate goal to make the cure for stomach cancer a reality.
DDF was founded in 2009 by Debbie Zelman after she was diagnosed with stage IV incurable stomach cancer in 2008 and given only weeks to live. Zelman immediately began to educate herself about this disease and to seek the best available care. When she responded favorably to her treatment, Debbie founded DDF which now has chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and Germany and a Medical Advisory Board of renowned doctors from across the country and internationally. Now, almost eight years later, Debbie is still receiving chemotherapy and is thrilled to be able to watch her three children grow up. To learn more about DDF, please visit us at www.DebbiesDream.org.
