In recent years, Beaujolais wines have become a go-to for sommeliers because of their fresh and lively profile, food-friendliness, and affordability. Exports to the U.S. grew by seven percent in volume last year according to Business France, and IRi data indicates Beaujolais sales have increased by more than 20 percent in some parts of the country.

Beaujolais Nouveau, however, does not represent the region's higher quality wines.
